Gulliver's Travels
Jennifer(Grade 5)
Gulliver's Travels was written by Jonathan Swift. He wrote this book in order to blame England.
Lemuel Gulliver was born in England. He wanted to be a captain when he grew up, but he became a doctor. One day, he sailed to the south sea with five other sailors. They met a terrible storm and swam to a strange island called Lilliput, where little people lived . He was first tied down by little people. A few months passed, there was a battle between Blefuscu Island and Lilliput. Gulliver helped Lillipians to fight. He wore glasses to protect his eyes from arrows. Lilliput won in the battle. Gulliver went back to England and took another Voyage to Brobdingnag. Brobdingnag is giants' island. After many months passed, people made his house in a box. But a bird held it and flew away. And he came back home. His wife and children listened to his adventure story and think he was crazy.
If I was Gulliver's wife or child, I would not believe him, either . There weren't little people or giant people. It's only a story. In Lilliput, Gulliver was the strongest, but in Brobdingnag, Gulliver was the weakest. It's only a story, but it can be a scared and fantastic story. I want to travel Lilliput, but I don't want to travel Brobdingnag. If I go to Brobdingnag, I will get killed or feel very scared.
TEACHER'S COMMENT : Good take on the story. Please read this story again when you attend a university. I guarantee you will enjoy it more when you are older. Keep reading!
