    Aesop's Fables

    Anna(Grade 5)

    As you had guessed, Aesop's Fables were written by Aesop.

    But no one knows if he truly existed. Aesop wrote his fables mainly about animals and morals.

    The story that most interested me was `Learning From Experience' and `Quality Not Quantity Counts Most.' Because `Learning From Experience' showed me that one can learn from other's mistakes `Quality, Not Quantity Counts Most.' told me that even one good quality can be better than a large quantity of low quality things. From `Learning From Experience' when the fox said, I had a very unlucky teacher, meaning the wolf, keeps hanging around my mind.

    Aesop's Fables are very funny but also sober. I really loved this book. But I'm disappointed  that no one knows if Aesop really lived.

    <Life>

    Nothing is known of Aesop's early life. However, in the Histories of Herodotus, who wrote during the later half of the fifth century BC, it said that he lived during the time of the Egyptian Pharaoh Amasis of the sixth century BC. And that he was connected to the Island of Samos. Herodotus also gave evidence that he might have been a slave or a relative of a Samian citizen called Iadmon.

    TEACHER'S COMMENT : Well done Anna! you made some very important observations about the book. But, why did you feel this way? Adding a few examples to your book report would help to make your point a bit more clear (I looked on the internet and most people do believe that Aesop was a real man and he lived in the 5th century (500)BC. He was from Ethiopia in Africa)
