▣ 중간고사 성적 우수자 시상 안내 ▣

 

지난 5월경 각 학교에서 치뤄졌던 중간고사에서 ECC 성북 Academy 에 재원중인 TTH-CNN Move 1.8 최형우 학생과 TTH-CNN Start 1.2 김원주 학생이 영어과목에서 만점을 받았습니다. 평소 ECC 에서의 영역별 꾸준한 영어학습이 밑거름이 되어 학교 내신에서도 우수한 성적을 거둔 두 친구들에게 축하하는 마음을 담아 학습에 도움이 될 수 있는 문화상품권을 지급하였습니다. 이 외에도 중간고사에서 우수한 성적을 거둔 ECC 재원생들에게 응원의 마음을 전합니다.

앞으로도 많은 ECC 재원생들이 더 흥미를 갖고 꾸준히 영어학습을 하여 한 걸음 더 높은 곳을 향해 나아갈 수 있도록 ECC 성북에서도 끊임없이 연구하고 노력하겠습니다.

 

외고에 진학하고 싶다면…
영어내신,학습계획서 꼼꼼히 챙겨라

2011학년도에 자기주도학습전형이 도입되면서 외고?국제고 입시에서는 중학교 영어 성적과 면접만으로 학생을 선발했다.

이러한 흐름은 2012학년도에도 그대로 유지되거나 확대될 것으로 보인다. 이에 따라 외고에 진학하고 싶은 학생의 경우 무엇보다 중요한 것은 우수한 영어 내신 성적을 확보해야 한다. 독서 및 봉사, 체험활동을 비롯한 비교과는 주로 주말이나 방학을 활용해 지속적으로 준비해야 한다. 또한 자신의 희망 고교와 학과에 대해 연계성이 있는 활동을 하는 것이 중요함을 잊지 말아야 한다.

1학기 기말고사 이후에는 외고 지원을 위한 입시정보 탐색과 더불어 비교과 실적을 꼼꼼히 정리해 학습계획서를 작성해야 한다.

학습계획서란 자신이 학교와 학과를 왜 선택했는지, 자신의 잠재력과 소질은 무엇인지, 학교 졸업 후의 진로와 자신의 비전을 서술하는 글이다. 2단계에서 실시하는 면접에서는 학습계획서와 학교생활기록부를 바탕으로 면접이 진행될 가능성이 매우 크다. 따라서 사전에 학습계획서와 생활기록부를 바탕으로 자신만의 예상 문제를 만들어 연습하는 것이 좋다.

1단계 통과 이전부터 미리 면접 예상문제를 만들고, 모의면접을 충실히 해야 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 부모님이나 친구들, 선생님들과 사전에 충분한 모의면접 기회를 갖는 것이 좋다.

◆모의면접을 통해서 기본자세를 익혀라!

자세가 불량하거나 인사를 제대로 하지 않고 목소리가 작다면 좋은 평가를 받기 어렵다. 디지털카메라나 캠코더로 자신의 면접 내용을 녹화하고 다시 본다면 자신의 틀린 점을 계속 고쳐나갈 수 있어 효과적이다.

 

◆대답은 자연스럽고 진지하게!

지원 동기나 장래 희망 등은 외워서 답변하는 것이 아닌 진정성이 담겨야 한다. 글로 쓰는 분량 이상으로 자세히 설명할 수 있어야 한다. 대답할 때에는 적당한 목소리 톤을 유지하고, 밝은 표정으로 답하는 것이 좋다.

What is your favorite color? It may be blue, green, or red. Each color has its own beauty and symbols. You probably have not put much thought into why you choose a particular color as your favorite. Interestingly, you can better understand yourself and other people by knowing their favorite colors. According to color theorists, a person’s favorite color says a lot about their personality. This is because your favorite color says something about who you are. This week, let’s learn the meanings and symbols of each color and what your favorite color can say about you!

 

Blue is a color of clarity, communications, and charm. If your favorite color is blue, you are loyal and charming. You also like to be understood. However, making decisions can be hard for you. People who like blue tend to have problems when it comes to making decisions.

 

Green is the color of life and abundance. If your favorite color is green, you have a warm heart and are graceful. You are also a peace-maker and a good listener. You love harmony and you are willing to sacrifice your own need for the sake of others. You are honest and give people honest answers, too.

 

Red is the color of passion. If you like the color red best, you like spontaneity and change. You don’t cling to something. If you get bored with something, you move on to something else. You don’t have much patience. You may think people who like red are outgoing and active. However, many shy people also like this color. They tend to choose red clothes or red shoes when going shopping because deep inside, they want to be more active and outgoing.

 

Yellow is the color of the sun, vitality, power, and ego. People who like the color yellow are likely to be self-centered and selfish. If yellow is your favorite color, you are very bright, funny, and charming. People who love yellow enjoy learning anything and everything and are not afraid to try something new.
 
Orange is the color of attractions, emotional responses, and inner magnetism. Orange is also close to gold, the color of success and wealth. Someone who likes orange is alive with feelings. If your favorite color is orange, you are very passionate and social. People who love the color orange also love having fun with their friends.

 

[International News] Crackdown on Illegal Deforestation in the Amazon
Brazil’s environmental protection agency, Ibama, is cracking down on those illegally cutting down trees for cattle ranching. Amazonas, one of the nine Amazon states in Brazil still has one of the most well-preserved forests, but since 1972, deforestation has gone up exponentially and the previously unmarked landscape has become peppered with dozens of ranches holding cattle by the hundreds of thousands.
The government and environmental authorities have become ever more vigilant; handing out fines, monitoring them with helicopter fly-bys, assessing damages with satellite imagery, and recently signing a “zero deforestation pact” with the ranchers residing in Boca do Acre and Apui.
The treaty states that the authorities won’t seize cattle grazing in illegally deforested areas, as long further deforestation stops. Though there are limitations to these acts, the move appears to be one step closer towards a greater effort for preservation.

지난 5월에는 모든 반이 새로운 문법 책으로 공부를 시작하였습니다. 대부분 새로 시작한 문법 내용이 지금까지 배웠던 문법 내용보다 한 단계 위의 레벨이다 보니, 친구들이 많이 힘겨워 한 듯 보입니다. 영문법은 비슷한 내용일 때는 실수하지 않고, 배운 내용에 대해 되짚어 보아야 하겠으며, 새로 시작하는 문법 내용일 때는 여러 문법 내용을 꼼꼼하게 암기하고 적용하면서 자신이 아는 내용을 분석하는 습관이 필요합니다. 영문법의 기본 내용을 잘 알고 있어야 영어독해가 매끄럽고 자연스럽게 되며, 문맥의 파악이 쉽게 되니, 항상 새로운 내용을 암기하고 분석하여 조금 더 정확하고 쉽게 독해하도록 노력하는 것이 필요하겠습니다. 이번 달에는 학교 기말고사가 있습니다. 학교 시험도 열심히 준비하여 좋은 성적을 거두고, 시간을 내서 문법과 독해, 단어암기에도 최선을 다하는 한 달이 되도록 하면 좋겠습니다.
