 설명: 다음의 test는 북미와 라틴아메리카, 유럽에 관한 시험문제입니다. Open Book Test 이며, 문제에 정확히 맞는  답을 할 수 있는지 그동안 배운 내용을 잘 정리하고 있는 지를 테스트 합니다. 문제에서 볼 수 있듯이 상당한 배경지식과 이해가 요구되어집니다. 

Directions: This is an open book test so you may use your book and any notes or homework papers related to the book.  You may NOT talk to other students in the class.  All of your answers should be complete and written in complete sentences.

1) There are many ways that the United States and Canada are alike

and different. Write a paragraph that tells how they are alike and different.

In many ways Canada seems like the United States. There are coastal plains and low mountains in the east. There are the tall Rocky Mountains in the west. There are large flat plains between the mountains. Canada is a very big country but it has a small population. Only 28 million people live in this giant country. The United States and Canada are democracies. But they have different types of governments. In a democracy, people vote for their leaders. In Canada, a prime minister leads the country. In the United States, a president leads the country. In both countries, laws are made by parliament. Two countries are industrial nations so they have many factories. Both are industrial nations with a high standard of living.

2) How do people in the Caribbean Islands earn a living?

    Most countries in the Caribbean Islands are developing countries. A developing nation is a nation with      a low standard of living and not much industry. In the cities most people work at service jobs. Some      people work in factories. Many people in Latin America are farmers. There are two kinds of farmers.      There are poor farmers who work on small farms. The second kind of farmer grows cash crops.          Coffee, bananas, and sugarcane are important cash crops in Latin America.
