Four Seasons in Korea

Hello. My name is Harry and I am 8 years old.

I am very glad to take part in this speech contest to talk about the very important issue of the climate changes

I would like to tell you about the four seasons in Korea.

They are spring, summer, fall and winter. Our four seasons are something special,

so I hope we can preserve them.

Spring begins in the middle of April. The temperature gradually rises up to 20 degrees Celsius. Spring is my favorite season.

Summer lasts from June through September. There is a rainy spell which happens during the early summer between June and July. The daily high temperature often rises to over 35 degrees Celsius. Nights are also hot and humid.

Fall is the season with crisp weather, much sunlight and changing autumn leaves. The weather is very nice, which is expressed in a Korean proverb, “The sky is high and the horses get fat.”

Winter begins in December and continues through February. The air from the Asian continent brings bitter cold and dry weather and some snowfall. In Seoul, the average temperature in January ranges from -7 to 1 degree Celsius.

The weather in Korea, as around the world, is changing. This may be caused by global warming. The spring and the fall are getting shorter and we have very hot summers and very cold winters. If we don’t take action soon, our weather might change forever! I think we need to help decrease pollution and increase the number of trees in the world. This way, we will be able to have beautiful, temperate weather, and our distinct four seasons, for many generations to come.
