    Subject:  Highlights of the Native Teacher’s Meeting on 31st of May, 2011

     

    1.     Distributed and reviewed June Calendar

    2.     Report Cards

    a.     May  report card schedule

                                                                             i.  Let’s try our best to get them completed on time.

                                                                           ii.  Don’t wait for the Korean teachers to give you the report cards

                                                                        iii.  Primary teacher should make sure all teachers grades are on the report cards.

    b.     New kindergarten report cards

                                                                             i.  The new report cards have been redesigned by YBM. Corporate has designed four different formats. We will be using two of the formats (i.e. form A and form C)

                                                                           ii.  As a group we have agreed to the following process:

    1.   The primary language teacher will be responsible for completing the report cards except for Math criteria.

    2.   The primary language teacher will test student’s phonics skills during the monthly speaking tests.

    3.   The primary language teacher will communicate with the phonic’s teacher to prepare appropriate phonics assessment.

    3.     StoryTown supplements

    a.     Supplements are provided on the ECC desktop.

    4.     Kindergarten “Green” journals

    a.     Primary language teacher will check each students “Green” journal once a week (e.g. Monday or Friday).

    5.     Andrew’s Presentation.

    a.     I think I can speak for all that Andrew presented a useful, interesting, and efficient way of instructing Kindergarten students appropriate writing skills

                                                                             i.  Finger writing in the air

                                                                           ii.  Hat-belt-foot technique

    6.     Give forewarning to Sue when you need a new book for your class (two week notice would be appropriate).

    7.     Teach for the whole 40 minutes: Refrain from using word-searches and coloring to fill your time (Prepare, Prepare, Prepare) ? Sue
